I remember on the first day of school, i was very afraid because i had stepped into a totally new environment: faces of the students, the teachers were all different. I had stepped into Kent Ridge Secondary School, the school which was going to have many memories for me. the buildings and facilities of the school were very new, as the school had only started on year 2000.

I was nervous and afraid as we had to stand up and introduce ourselves to the class and teachers. we had to say our names, our personal details, like, our hobbies, our favourite subjects. I never like doing this and until now i still dislike doing it. I am unsure of why i dislike it, so whenever it is my turn to introduce myself, i would just keep it short, sweet and simple.

Most of my primary school friends were not in the same secondary school as me, because Kent Ridge secondary schoolis a further school away from my house, compared to the neighbouring schools. This meant that i had to start making friends again, because we were all not aware of each other's character. This made it more difficult to make friends, or to start a conversation with them. And also, we were all too shy to approach each other. Because of this, there was neither laughter nor chit-chatting going on in the class, so the classroom was definitely quiet and we just followed the teachers' instructions. No matter if we understood those instructions or not, or if those instructions even made any sense, we just followed blindly without question.

We were brought by some student councillors of the school to walk around the school. It was to allow us to have a better understanding of the school, also to prevent us from getting lost. They also arranged for us to play some ice-breaker games with our classmates to develop a bonding, and also to help us realise the potential within us, while playing games that involved thinking and team-work.
